RNP Paige Hastings talks a client through injectables

Each year, more cosmetic treatments and injections face the FDA for their approval process. As products are approved, providers are able to offer these new treatment avenues to their patients, helping identify what works best for each individual. Within the past couple of years, new options have emerged for neurotoxins, hyaluronic acid fillers, and other injections. Hugel Inc., a South Korean company known for creating skincare and injectable cosmetic treatments, and Galderma, known as the creator of Restylane and Cetaphil, both have new botulinum toxins and more that are hitting the market in the U.S. now. Learn more about these new injectables and their uses below!

New Botulinum Toxins

The two main botulinum toxins hitting the market are Letybo by Hugel Inc. and Relfydess by Galderma. The FDA approved Letybo in 2024 for treating the glabella lines, also known as 11’s, after being used in other countries as Botulax. This type A injectable toxin is the number one used in Korea and is said to work as well as other toxins, like Botox Cosmetic, that are used most often in the U.S. currently.

Relfydess is currently waiting for FDA approval in the U.S. but is actively approved and utilized in Europe and Australia. This injectable toxin comes readily mixed, reducing the chance of dosing inconsistencies and streamlining injection. Relfydess is set apart however, thanks to its quick results, with some patients seeing wrinkle and fine line improvement within 24 hours.

New Fillers & Skinboosters

Filler wise, there are a couple new hyaluronic acid options from Evolus, known for Jeuveau, and options derived from the patient’s own fat and donor fat. From Evolus comes Evolysse Smooth and Evolysse Form, both hyaluronic acid gel fillers approved in early 2024. Evolysse Smooth smooths fine lines and wrinkles and provides subtle facial refinement. Evolysse Form’s main function is adding structure and volume to the face in the jaw, cheeks, and lips.

A filler derived from the patient’s fat, called Nanofat, lacks formal FDA approval but is regulated when injected and harvested in the same session. Nanofat uses emulsified fat from the thighs or abdomen that contains stem cells and growth factors. This fat is processed to remove the volumizing qualities and injected to improve texture, healing, and skin overall.

The other filler utilizing fat, in this case from a donor, is called alloClae. This product is an FDA-compliant Human Cell and Tissue Product, used to add structure and volume to areas where fat already exists, like a subtle enhancement for the hips or buttocks.

The final new product is Restylane Skinboosters, micro-sized hyaluronic acid injections to improve skin texture, elasticity, and glow. FDA approval pends in the U.S. but this product has been used elsewhere for over 10 years.
