Are you concerned about showing your age around your eyes? Do your eyelids droop, making you look tired? If you have aging, puffy or sleepy eyes, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) may be right for you. During this procedure, Dr. Wendel removes fatty pockets under and around the eyes, and eliminates the excess skin from that area, creating a more youthful and revived appearance.
I was most concerned with my upper eyelids sagging and making me look older than I feel (I am 55) so decided on the upper eyelid blepharoplasty. My procedure caused very little discomfort to the lids. However, there is still a bit of numbness present near my eyelash line. I had a bit more bruising than some people but did go away within 2 weeks. Downtime is about 14 days, as you cannot wear makeup over the incisions. I am now at 9 weeks post op and scar in one lid barely detectable with no makeup, other scar still slightly pink, but improving steadily. My eyes look great, gives me a younger look and outlook!

If you have saggy, puffy eyelids or typical signs of aging in the eye area, an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) could be right for you. Many candidates who want an eyelid lift are concerned about how tired they look or about how their eyelid hangs down creating that tired look. This procedure removes fatty pockets under and around the eyes and eliminates the excess skin from that area, hence creating a more youthful appearance.
Do you have round eyes and want a more almond shape to the opening of your eyes? If you have downturned eyes, sad looking eyes or droopy lower eyelids, a lateral canthopexy might be right for you. Many clients who want a better, younger looking appearance choose canthopexy to uplift the outside corners of the eyes and improve the shape or aperature of the eyes. This surgery can be done as a single procedure but is also often done in combination with eyelid lift surgery called blepharoplasty.
Dr. Wendel will perform this procedure using anesthesia in a fully accredited Nashville surgical facility. Canthopexy can sometimes be performed in the office under local anesthesia if desired. Next, Dr. Wendel will make an incision near the outside corner of the upper and lower eyelids. He uses a suture to tighten and lift the corner of the eyelids. He then sutures the skin. Once the surgery is complete, Dr. Wendel will go over your recovery instructions with you in order to minimize any discomfort.
Do your lower eyelids droop so much that your eyes are constantly irritated and tearing? When a canthopexy is not enough, a canthoplasty can significantly lift the outside corner of one or both eyelids to correct asymmetry or restore a more youthful appearance to the opening of the eyes. Canthoplasty is often done together with both upper and/or lower blepharoplasty.
Dr. Wendel will perform canthoplasty using anesthesia in a fully accredited Nashville surgical facility. Dr. Wendel will make an incision near the outside corner of the eye where the upper and lower eyelids meet. He releases, then elevates and anchors the lateral canthus of the eyelids. Then he sutures the skin. Once the surgery is complete, Dr. Wendel will go over canthoplasty recovery instructions with you.
Dr. Wendel will perform the upper or lower eyelid lift using anesthesia in a fully accredited Nashville surgical facility. Minor eyelid lift can sometimes be performed in the office. Next, Dr. Wendel will make an incision either below or above the eyelashes or on the inside of the eyelid to avoid any obvious scars. He removes the excess fat and skin from the eyelid area and pulls the skin upward to create a tighter appearance. He sutures the area and once the surgery is complete, Dr. Wendel will go over eyelid recovery instructions, in order to minimize any discomfort.
