Commonly referred to as “Baby Botox”, Micro-Botox treatment has gained popularity over the years for providing natural looking results. It differs from regular Botox because the product is injected in smaller amounts and in very specific areas to give the desired effect. Along with Baby Botox, other subtle treatments have risen in popularity among patients, showing the move from more obvious cosmetic injections to a more natural look. Botox Cosmetic as a whole uses botulinum toxins that block nerve activity and result in muscle relaxation at the site of injection. Typically, Botox or Dysport, another injectable that uses botulinum toxins, is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead, crow’s feet, 11’s, and bunny lines around the mouth. Baby Botox is the same treatment but utilizes smaller portions of the product to give more subtle results and is injected into a more superficial layer of the skin. It’s often for patients who have minor concerns or are using it in a preventative fashion because of the airbrushed effect it gives the skin. This treatment may also be used to help wrinkles and fine lines from becoming deeper or to maintain the results from previous Botox treatments.
Other procedures that give subtle results include microneedling and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments. Both of these focus on skin rejuvenation and helping the appearance of scars, wrinkles, and acne. Microneedling specifically is also used to treat melasma and hyperpigmentation through the use of a micropen on the skin that stimulates collagen production. Morpheus8 is similar treatment that combines microneedling and radiofrequency to stimulate collagen and elastin production on an even deeper level, providing a comparable result to microneedling, just elevated and with a bit of skin tightening and contouring as well. PRP treatments range from facials, injections, and a form of microneedling by introducing the patient’s own plasma to the skin as it is microneedled. PRP treatments have similar uses but are specifically used to stimulate hair growth, prevent hair loss, reduce the appearance of dark circles, and treat sun damage, as well as wrinkles and fine lines. Laser treatments using the BroadBand Light Laser, also called the ForeverYoung BBL, or the Halo Laser are also becoming more common due to their natural looking skin rejuvenation results. These procedures are used to help the patient’s skin appear younger, smoother, and more glowy through the anti-aging properties of laser treatment. Both offer little to no downtime with the Halo Laser treatment being adjustable to fit your scheduling needs. The natural glow and youthful results are why more and more patients are looking at laser procedures before going for a more invasive and intense treatment. Combining a BBL or Halo Laser treatment with Baby Botox or PRP can provide a visible rejuvenation without looking “overdone” or using heavy amounts of filler.
