Patients Seeking Combination Procedures on the Rise

As plastic surgery procedures have dramatically increased post-pandemic, experts have simultaneously observed another trend among patients. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) Trends & Insights Report, 80% of survey participants indicated that more patients are seeking combination procedures.

Aside from wanting multiple procedures, what are the benefits of undergoing multiple procedures at once? Survey respondents reported that patients sought out combination procedures to cut down on recovery time and enjoy longer-lasting results. Rather than undergoing surgery and recovery multiple times, more patients are opting to “address multiple areas in as few stages as possible and create a cohesive overall result,” said Dr. Michele Shermak, vice chair of the ASPS Public Education Committee. Combination procedures give patients a harmonious and uniform appearance, and better results. For example, a breast augmentation and liposuction of the stomach create a more hourglass shape than one of these procedures could alone.

Beyond the increasing popularity in plastic surgery, the emergence of the ‘Mommy Makeover’ contributes to the rise in combination procedures. This cosmetic transformation typically includes breast augmentation, liposuction, a tummy tuck, and labiaplasty, and helps countless mothers feel more youthful after giving birth.

As is standard with all cosmetic procedures, it’s important to discuss with your plastic surgeon whether or not you’re a candidate for combining procedures. Whether you’re looking for a total ‘Mommy Makeover’ or simply seeking to boost your self-confidence, Dr. J. J. Wendel Plastic Surgery can help you feel your best.
