Children’s Skin Health Is Shaped By Their Mothers’

The Journal of Investigative Dermatology published a study in which a team of researchers evaluated the relationship between a mother’s bacteria and her child’s. 158 children participated in the study, and 50 of those children participated with their mothers. Results revealed that the development of a child’s skin is strongly impacted by their own mother’s. In fact, researchers have found that the way that a mother gives birth can increase the skin microbiome (bacteria that keeps your body healthy). Because the skin’s bacteria composition seems to develop at the same time as the immune system, mother’s can impact their child’s future immune health during delivery.
