After Nursing, Mothers Turn to Breast Lift with Fat Transfer

When a woman breastfeeds, gravity and weight changes can result in a loss of volume in the upper part of the breast. Nipples may sag, and the breasts may take a more elliptical shape. To combat this, plastic surgeons can add fat grafting to breast lift procedures. Fat grafting removes fat from problem areas (such as the abdomen, thighs, flanks, or bra line), then transfers that fat to deflated areas in the breast. This process can subtly increase breast volume and help patients get the lift they desire postpartum.
