After a bad outcome from under eye injections at another plastic surgeon’s office, I went to see Paige at Dr. J. J. Wendel’s office. She explained that this injection would dissolve the unwanted filler. It was simple, easy and very effective. I went back to see her a few weeks later for filler in the under eye area and was very pleased with my results. She is exceptional… as is Dr. Wendel.

As long as the filler is hyaluronic acid-based and not a permanent one, a naturally occurring enzyme called hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve the unwanted filler.
The injection works quickly, usually within 24 hours, and typically dissolves all of the filler. It is very difficult, however, to only dissolve part of the filler leaving some behind. After the filler dissolves, your body absorbs and removes it.
There are two popular types of hyaluronidase on the market: Hylenex and Vitrase.
Hylenex is the first and only recombinant hyaluronidase that is FDA approved to increase the dispersion and absorption of other drugs, particularly hyaluronic acid-based fillers. It is human-based.
Vitrase is a hylauronidase enzyme derived from Sheep and is also FDA-approved. It is the only hyaluronidase preparation approved in concentrations > 150 USP units/mL.
