HYALURONIDASE

Were you seen by an inexperienced injector who gave you too much filler? Do you have lumpy areas of filler that you would like to smooth out? We can help. The advanced, highly skilled providers at Dr. J. J. Wendel Plastic Surgery offer expert hyaluronidase injections to fine tune your results or correct over-injection.

HYALURONIDASE

Are you dissatisfied with the results of your injectable filler such as Belotero, Hylaform, Juvederm, or Restylane? Do you have lumps or too much on one side or the other? The answer is yes. These fillers can be taken out.

As long as the filler is hyaluronic acid-based and not a permanent one, a naturally occurring enzyme called hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve the unwanted filler.

The injection works quickly, usually within 24 hours, and typically dissolves all of the filler. It is very difficult, however, to only dissolve part of the filler leaving some behind. After the filler dissolves, your body absorbs and removes it.

There are two popular types of hyaluronidase on the market: Hylenex and Vitrase.

HYALENEX®

Hylenex is the first and only recombinant hyaluronidase that is FDA approved to increase the dispersion and absorption of other drugs, particularly hyaluronic acid-based fillers. It is human-based.

VITRASE

Vitrase is a hylauronidase enzyme derived from Sheep and is also FDA-approved. It is the only hyaluronidase preparation approved in concentrations > 150 USP units/mL.
