Ultraviolet light from the sun causes what experts call photoaging. This form of aging appears in the form of dark spots and wrinkles. Scientists have been working to uncover ways to eliminate signs of photoaging, and recent discoveries have given them a step in the right direction. Studies have revealed that damaged cells trigger a release of self-noncoding double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), a molecule that kickstarts hair follicle and skin regeneration. A synthetic version of this molecule in combination with retinoic acid has been found to enhance healing and promote skin rejuvenation.
