Dr. Jason Wendel, MD, FACS is the owner, founder, and Board Certified Plastic Surgeon of Dr. J. J. Wendel Plastic Surgery in the Green Hills area of Nashville, TN. Dr. Wendel completed his education in 2002 before moving to the Nashville area to serve as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Nashville VA Medical Center and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Vanderbilt University. After holding those positions for over 10 years, he opened his own practice that is known and loved by patients and employees.
With the increasing popularity of cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures, Dr. Wendel and his office continue to provide an excellent patient experience and results.
Dr. Wendel completed his Bachelors of Art in Chemistry at Wabash College in 1992 before attending and graduating from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1996. Dr. Wendel then went on to serve his residency at the University of South Florida for General Surgery and Plastic Surgery before moving up north to do a fellowship at the University of Michigan for Plastic Surgery.
While in school, Dr. Jason Wendel was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Phi Lambda Upsilon Chemistry Honor Society, and the Phi Beta Kappa Undergraduate Honor Society.
After finishing his education, Dr. Wendel made the move to Nashville where academics continued to call his name as he began his career in surgery.
Dr. Wendel began working as the Chief of Plastic Surgery in 2002 at the Nashville VA Medical Center, providing comprehensive reconstructive and plastic surgery to those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. While working at this hospital, Dr. Wendel also worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from 2002 to 2013, serving as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Program Director for the Department of Plastic Surgery. From being an advisor for third and fourth year medical students to instructing plastic surgery residents in microsurgery courses, Dr. Wendel was a valuable part of the team there for 11 years. After opening his own practice in 2013, he stayed on at Vanderbilt Medical as an Affiliate Clinical Professor in the Plastic Surgery Department.
Also during that time from 2008 to 2012, Dr. Wendel worked with the Nashville Predators NHL team as the Team Plastic Surgeon. From molding young minds to repairing hockey player injuries, Dr. Jason Wendel has a diverse background in surgery and teaching, leading him to open up his own practice in 2013.
With his practice, he created an expansive list of offerings by hiring registered Nurse Practitioners and experienced injectors to provide a full range of services from non-invasive to full surgeries. As of June 2025, he has overseen and helped create SKINHAUS Beauty, a medical spa associated with his practice.
Throughout his years as a surgeon and with his own practice, Dr. Wendel has won many awards including being a part of the top 1% of America’s Most Honored Professionals according to American Institute of Plastic Surgeons. Most recently, Dr. Wendel was given the 2019 RealSelf 100 Award and a 500 Award Hall of Fame inductee.
He has also been named one of the top doctors for plastic surgery in the Nashville area for multiple consecutive years, as well as Most Compassionate Doctor by Vitals.
